The Right
Use of Will
Just a little over a year ago following the tragic events of September 11,
2001 the world pulled together in what was an amazing show of total care
and understanding. Countries from all over the world pulled together
to show support of the loss of innocent lives and to make the loss of
those lives as meaningful as possible. In one short year following
these events our world is once again as fragmented as it has ever been.
The recent deadline by the United States to force Iraq to disarm has split
apart all that our nations have been working towards over the last 20
years. Trust and togetherness. Many of us support the decision
of the U.S. and its allies and others do not, but what is more important
to realize is that this war is now a reality. People from all
different countries have rallied against the war with Iraq and they have
shown amazing displays towards love and peace. Unfortunately the
time of war has now come to pass which is a reality we now must accept.
If war is definitely not what any person truly seeks why is it then that
it keeps happening? How does our Creator feel about war, and what
can we do as civilians to help keep people from losing their lives?
The state of war brings up many questions and the idea of evil always
keeps us asking why.
Keep in mind that any use of force on the offensive or to protect consumes
energy. Energy comes in many forms: physical, spiritual, emotional,
and mental. When we as an individual come in conflict with others
our energy takes a hit at all levels. It is our obligation (should
we choose to survive) to protect our energy as total depletion would mean
death. Life is based on energy and all things work in accordance.
The key to working with energy is knowing when and how to protect
yourself. An interesting example would be taking antibiotics to kill
off infections in our bodies. By taking antibiotics we ingest a live
organism to fend off and kill any offending organisms. Antibiotics
are used as a defense against invaders that would otherwise destroy our
health. I use this example not to pledge support for the war with
Iraq or the inadvertent loss of lives but to perhaps give you an answer as to why
things are happening at this time.
Light and Dark will infinitely remain as they are essential to the
existence of life. While we may feel that we are on the side of
light keep in mind that the innocent civilians of Iraq and other
countries may (and are entitled to) feel otherwise. We are
accustomed to what our society deems as correct and likewise other
societies have different customs which may offer different views. If
basic human rights are being denied then we as people are bound by moral
law to do what is necessary to bring peace and freedom to those that have
been denied. We as civilians should not only be thinking and praying
for our troops but we should also be praying for the innocent lives of the
people in Iraq and surrounding countries. This war will affect
us all. What we can do as individuals is send what energy we can in
the form of thoughts and prayers to the individuals who need it most.
Continue to peacefully protest the war if you must but do so in a loving
and understanding way. Understand that everyone has a right to their
own opinions and stepping on someone else's feelings ultimately will lead
to someone stepping on yours. Overall God and Life is in control and
if this war was not to be then it would not be. Good will spring
from these events one way or another. Lets just hope that those in
charge gain enough understanding from our situation that the loss of
energy from all of life is minimized. May Life bless us all
with unity and understanding.
